While driving east along Route 23 near Stamford storm clouds were overhead. A constant storm system has been passing through the Catskills for the past several days. Thunder and rain each day, along with bright sun. A rainbow emerged as my father and I passed through Stamford by car. My father has been on this route many times, starting in 1974. As we drove closer to Prattsville, the rainbow appeared to grow in size and as we approached the bridge that crosses Schoharie Creek, the rainbow seemed to encircle the town of Prattsville.

Prattsville received widespread national news coverage in 2011 because of the devastation of the Schoharie Creek flood caused by Hurricane Irene.
