July 2013- Kaaterskill Falls, located in the Catskill Mountains, are over 200 feet tall and have two tiers. They are fed by a stream that flows down from nearby mountains. In the summer, the falls are usually a gentle trickle. However, after heavy rain, the water flow can become quite heavy. This can make it difficult to get close to the falls without getting wet from the mist. However, the mist can also add to the beauty of the falls and make for some great photos.
Strong water flows at Kaaterskill Falls on this visit after much rain the last few days in the Catskills. It was difficult to get close to falls without heavy mist getting on the camera and lens. In regards to the first image- the sheer size and the power of Kaaterskill Falls on this day are without words. Look to the bottom left for someone graciously standing for the photo.
